in Crystal Glow

Feeling good about your skin is a big part of feeling beautiful and confident.

Pigmentation, dark circles or uneven complexion are some common skin issues that we suffer from. We will help uncover some causes and types of pigmentation and give you some tips to help you overcome it!

Pigmentation or hyperpigmentation can be simply described as the colouring of the skin or melanin increase that causes dark spots. It’s a condition that darkens patches of your skin which results in an uneven skin tone.

Women usually tend to use concealers and creams that contain chemical substances to hide these dark circles which can temporarily solve their problem. They result in negative effects on the long-term as it doesn’t resolve it permanently.

There’s no denying that pigmentation represents medical issues and unhealthy conditions. It can happen due to a couple of reasons such as Hormonal imbalance, irregular sleep, pregnancy, sun exposure, and genetic reasons.

When pigmentation is caused due to pregnancy, this is called Malesma, it usually happens due to hormonal changes or imbalance.

It’s advised to get exposed to the sun around 10 to 15 minutes every day to get the needed vitamins for your skin. Over sun exposure for long periods can also darken patches of the skin tone, this happens due to the excess production of the melanin in the skin.

The deeper the dark spots, the more difficult it is to treat them. Skin affected can become darker and permanent unless we take preventive care.

Recently one of the ways to really treat pigmentation is with lasers, which are a good option for some but come with many drawbacks. One of the difficulties of using the Lasers that they are expensive and can cause a lot of down-time and the problem can come back.

It’s better to treat pigmentation naturally. There are multiple ways to reduce it and, in most cases, erase it with some good home regime.

Personal hygiene is one of the most important factors in the treatment process.

Here are some major points to pay attention to in the skin-care:

  1. Rinse your face twice a day using lukewarm water.
  2. Maintain a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables to supply the needed vitamins.
  3. Minimize using make-up on a daily basis.
  4. Avoid using skincare products that contain chemicals.
  5. Use natural products and natural formulas at home.
  6. Treat your skin in a soft way especially if it’s sensitive.

Some home-made mixtures are good to reduce it and help it such as:

Potatoes contain an enzyme called catecholate which curbs the excessive melanin production within an individual.
